Biochemical characterization of Walterinnesia morgani (desert black cobra) venom (Serpentes: Elapidae)

نویسندگان

چکیده

Snake venom contains various bioactive proteins and peptides, of which enzymes make up a significant portion. Desert Black Cobra (Walterinnesia morgani) is venomous snake distributed mainly in the Middle East including southeastern Türkiye. The aim present study to investigate key enzyme activities protein profile W. morgani originating from Sanliurfa province. After determination content, sample was subjected enzymatic activity assays assess phospholipase A2, protease, ʟ-amino acid oxidase, hyaluronidase, 5′-nucleotidase and, phosphodiesterase by spectrophotometry-based method. Protease also assessed gelatin zymography. Additionally, fibrinogenolytic evaluated using fibrinogen zymography SDS-PAGE methods. obtained (both reduced non-reduced) reversed-phase HPLC According results, 11 bands between approximately 12-240 kDa were observed on non-reduced gel while there nine 12-140 gel. Venom found predominantly 25-12 kDa. Proteins separated into at least 19 major minor groups (peaks) analysis. showed all varying levels.

The Development of the Skull of the Egyptian Cobra Naja h. haje (Squamata: Serpentes: Elapidae)

BACKGROUND The study of craniofacial development is important in understanding the ontogenetic processes behind morphological diversity. A complete morphological description of the embryonic skull development of the Egyptian cobra, Naja h. haje, is lacking and there has been little comparative discussion of skull development either among elapid snakes or between them and other snakes. METHODO...

Post-ovipositional development of the monocled cobra, Naja kaouthia (Serpentes: Elapidae).

External morphological development between oviposition and hatching of the monocled cobra, Naja kaouthia, is described. Ten developmental stages are diagnosed according to nine features. These include fusion of the body wall musculature along the ventral midline, appearance of the endolymphatic ducts, formation of the eyelid, and the appearance of scales on the head and body. Additional observa...

Influences on venom yield in Australian tigersnakes (Notechis scutatus) and brownsnakes (Pseudonaja textilis: Elapidae, Serpentes).

The rates at which venomous animals produce venoms are of obvious biological and medical importance, but factors influencing those rates remain poorly understood. We gathered data on venom yield (wet mass of venom) and percentage solids (dry mass of the venom divided by wet mass) for 53 eastern brownsnakes (Pseudonaja textilis) and 36 mainland tigersnakes (Notechis scutatus) over a 4-year perio...
